Institute: In-House
Category: Barcoding and advanced applications
Duration: Ongoing
Project summary: In genomics “Barcode for Identification” in general means combination of certain patterns of A; T; G; C in a DNA segment, presence-absence of certain DNA segments/alleles, activity of certain DNA segments/alleles (methylation, expression and inhibition) etc. unique to an individual or species or variety. As such DNA barcoding can be used for species or individual identification. Also, genomic barcoding as in activity, presence-absence pattern of certain alleles/DNA segments can be used to identify certain disease or condition or phenotype unique to a population or individual.
